Future Career Information

Channing ISD is setting up this page for our students and anyone else who is wanting career information.  We will be posting links to articles as well as the Occupational Outlook Handbook and the Occupational Outlook Quarterly published by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Occupational Outlook Quarterly is a magazine format that has articles about careers and information about projected job openings, median annual wages, training required, etc.  It is available at http://www.bls.gov/opub/ooq/.  Under the archives tab, you will find the past issues of this magazine.

The Occupational Outlook Handbook is a website that has information upon all careers along with detailed information about these careers.  This information includes:  a summary, what they do, work environment, how to become one, pay, job outlook, and similar occupations.  There is a plethora of information here on any career that you are interested.  The site is searchable and is located at http://www.bls.gov/ooh/.

We have also started doing a LOT of career exploration with our Junior and Senior students.  So far this year, we have toured all the Amarillo College facilities, Hilmar Cheese, and will be touring Bell-Helicopter later this year.  We have also had students go on a job shadow experience and have had students interviewing people in their Roadtrip Nation class.  We hope the videos from the Roadtrip Nation class will be on the web soon.

This article was in the Business Insider.  The title of the article is The 7 Worst Body Language Mistakes Job Seekers Make.  It is an interesting article that anyone looking for a job should read.  Click on the title of the article to go to it.

We will continue to update this page as more resources become available.
