Michael Stevens Named Lone Finalist for Channing ISD Superintendent

    On May 22nd, 2019, the Channing Board of Trustees named Michael Stevens as the "lone finalist" for the superintendent position.  There is now a 21-day waiting period before a contract can be signed.

    Mr. Stevens graduated in 1994 from Edgewood High School in Edgewood, Texas and then graduated from Texas A&M University at Commerce with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Sports Studies. He received his Masters and Superintendent certificate through Lamar University.  He has just finished his 19th year in education.  He has taught in Mesquite ISD for 6 years, taught and coached in Palacios ISD for 1 year, taught and coached in Vernon ISD for 6 years before becoming the high school Assistant Principal.  Most recently, he has been the Principal at Electra Junior/Senior High School for the past 5 years.  His wife RaeAnn and he have been married for 15 years and they have one "fur baby" named Bailey.  RaeAnn is finishing her 17th year in education.

    Mr. Stevens says, "I am excited to be the next superintendent of Channing ISD.  Channing is a great school district with amazing staff and students.  I am so proud that I get to be a part of the Channing ISD family.  I knew from the moment that I met the Channing ISD Board of Trustees that this district was where I needed to be.  Channing has a great history of success and I am excited for the opportunity to lead Channing to continued and even greater success.  I strive for Channing ISD to be known as one of the best districts in the state."
