Recipes Needed to Help the XIT Building

Dear Channing Family,

One of our goals this year is to help our students understand the importance of community and supporting your community.  We feel that our communities have always given Channing School great support throughout the years and we need to give back when we are able.  With that being said, we need your help with this learning objective.

As many of you know, Channing is the home of the historic XIT General Land Office Building.  The Hartley County Historical Commission is trying to raise funds to put a new roof on the building and they, need our help.

They are wanting to do a fundraiser of selling a cookbook and are in need of your favorite recipes to put into the cookbook.  They need three hundred recipes quickly.  We hope you will help us keep this historical building maintained by sending recipes to school by September 7th.  The recipes need to be on a regular 8.5” by 11” paper, one recipe per page and they would like your name, or whoever’s recipe it is, on the bottom of the page.

The cookbooks will be in before Thanksgiving and will be sold for $15 each if you are interested at that time in purchasing one.

Please consider helping to keep our local history in great shape and giving an example of helping out the local community by sending us a recipe.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call.

                                                                                                                                                            Respectfully,

                                                                                                                                                            Robert McLain
