January is School Board Recognition Month. We would like to give a HUGE shout-out to our board members: Sandy Bob Morris (Board President), Carla Barber (Board Vice-President), Penny Loudder (Board Secretary), Kirk Dahl (Board Member), Benny Moore (Board Member), and Jay West (Board Member). If you see any of these board members out and about, please let them know we appreciate their commitment to Channing ISD. A great district starts with a GREAT School Board.

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. School will resume on Tuesday, January 7th, and staff will have a work day on the 6th.
Update on High School Basketball:
Due to declining participation in athletics and the number of ineligible students, we have decided to cancel district varsity basketball for the remainder of this year. Since we are not able to complete the season this year, varsity will have to sit out for the 2025-2026 season as well. We are still able to play non-district games and tournaments, and we will try to schedule a Homecoming as well as a Senior Night for early Spring. A new varsity schedule will be released once it is updated.
This does not affect junior high basketball, and will not affect other sports. We will still have track this Spring, as well as boys cross country, girls volleyball, junior high basketball, and high school and junior high track next year.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility, and please understand that we are working very hard to build our athletic program. We are seeing growth in our players, but it is not an overnight fix and takes dedication from all involved.

For our basketball games against Boys Ranch, please know that do not take cash at the door. You will need to purchase your tickets using the following link: https://gofan.co/event/2408300?schoolId=TX12105. They will have a QR code available at the gate to purchase tickets also. They will take cash or card for the concession stand. Junior high games are tomorrow at Boys Ranch starting at 5. High school games are on Tuesday in Channing starting at 6.

Reminder-tonight at 6:00 is our Christmas Dinner, followed by the concert.
On Monday and Tuesday, 6th-12th grade students will be taking final exams unless they have been exempted due to grades and attendance.
Elementary students have a field trip on Tuesday.
The last day of the semester is next Thursday and is a FULL day of school.

Basketball Schedule Update:
December 20th will now be HOME GAMES at 3:00 pm and 4:15 pm vs. Pringle Morse.
January 24th will now be AWAY at Pringle Morse at 6:00 pm and 7:15 pm.
Parents, the Dumas bus is going to be about 20 minutes late this morning. We apologize for the inconvenience. We will not count tardies this morning for our Dumas students.
