Texas Ed. Code 37.113, Notice to Parents of Channing ISD Re. Threatening Statement We are notifying you that today, October 24, 2024, the Administration received a report that a District student made a statement that could be considered a threat to do harm to the school. Upon learning of this possible threat, school administration immediately informed the Hartley County Sheriff’s Office and convened the District’s Threat Assessment and Safe and Supportive School Team. The administration, in cooperation with law enforcement and after consultation with the Threat Assessment and Safe and Supportive School Team, determined no imminent threat to students or staff exists. Law enforcement will determine if any criminal conduct occurred, and may take action as it believes is warranted. The District will pursue appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the District’s student code of conduct if a student engaged in any misconduct involving a threat. Channing ISD administration places student safety as a top priority and will always consider a threat to be credible until determined to be otherwise. We will continue to work diligently to keep your students and our staff safe from harm. If you have any questions or concerns about this notice, please contact me at 806-235-3432. Thank you, Dr. Misty Heiskell

Day of Ag field trip at WTAMU: 8th grade students learned about making feed rations and why they are important in feeding animals, the process our meat goes through from pasture to plate, and where the different cuts of meat are taken from. Students learned the difference in dairy cows and how milk gets processed, and made a little ice cream. Along the way, they met lots of friendly people as they toured the whole Ag complex and our Careers class students got to show off the communication skills they have been practicing and their awesome interviewing skills as they asked many good questions and spoke with the Ag Ambassadors. Thank you to Windows on a Wider World for sponsoring this great event for our students!
